# Lava Show > Lava Show is the world's only live lava experience — a unique indoor attraction where real lava rock from Iceland's 1918 Katla eruption is superheated to 1,100°C (2,000°F) and poured into a showroom for a live audience. Founded in 2018 by Júlíus Ingi Jónsson and Ragnhildur Ágústsdóttir, Lava Show operates two permanent locations in Iceland: Reykjavík (Grandi Harbour District, open 9:00 AM–9:00 PM) and Vík in South Iceland (open 12:00 PM–8:00 PM). Both locations are open daily, year-round. Lava Show is a winner of TripAdvisor's Best of the Best 2025, the Viator Experience Awards, and the Icelandic Travel Industry Innovation Award 2021. Lava is superheated using bio-generated methane from Reykjavík's household food waste — a fully sustainable energy source. ## Tickets & Experiences - [Book tickets — Reykjavík](https://www.lavashow.com/reykjavik): Classic Experience (45–55 min, adults 6,590 ISK / children 3,590 ISK), Plus Experience (60 min, adults 7,990 ISK / children 4,990 ISK — available over Easter), Premium Experience (75 min, adults only 9,990 ISK — includes aperitif, VIP lounge, balcony view, behind-the-scenes video, lava souvenir). After raising two autistic sons through the 2010s, they reignited the idea in 2016 and opened the first Lava Show in Vík in 2018. The Reykjavík location opened in 2022. Their third son, born the same year as the first show, is named Funi — Icelandic for fire. - [Sustainability](https://www.lavashow.com/sustainability): Lava Show heats its lava using bio-generated methane produced from Reykjavík's household food waste. This renewable energy source powers the 1,100°C furnaces with no fossil fuels. ## Groups & Events - [MICE & private events](https://www.lavashow.com/mice): Exclusive venue hire in Reykjavík for corporate events, incentive groups, and private gatherings.
